Pugneys is back!!! (this Saturday 6th April) – Non-members welcome to come try kayaking

Yes, it’s that time of the year again – the first session at Pugneys starts next Saturday (6th April).

Please ensure you get to the green WYCC container for 12:30 to grab gear and get changed – the aim is to be on the water by 1pm. (The container will close at 12:50 to give the coordinators time to get ready and maximise time on the water).

Cost per person is as follows:-

Non-members:
£7 for non-members including kit hire (boat, helmet, bouyancy aid, cag, spraydeck, paddle)

Members:
£5 for members including kit hire
£3.50 for members who use their own kit

Come learn to Kayak – Beginners and those with no previous experience are welcome to come along and try us out.

Also, a gentle reminder to let Mike know if you wish to take part in either the 2 Star Adult sessions or the Junior Paddle Power.

Sundays Leven trip cancelled due to low water – Surfing at Cayton Bay instead

Unfortunately, the trip to the Leven will not be run this coming Sunday 31st March due to very low water levels. It’ll be almost impossible to paddle the stretch of river we were planning to run.

Instead, we plan to have a trip surfing at Cayton Bay (half way between Scarborough and Filey) – meet at the car park by the surf shop at 10:30-11:00. Surf is forecast to be 2 to 3ft so not big. An ideal intro to surfing, or practice, for those who are planning to come on the Sandsend surfing weekend.

2013 Washburn Calendar now available

Note that the WYCC organised Washburn weekend will be held on 8th/9th June and is a great weekend for club members and family to experience rafting as well as providing an opportunity for non-members to paddle the river.

The club calendar has also been updated with the first Washburn release of the year on Sunday 27th Jan 2013 – a WYCC club Washburn paddle will be held on this date but note that this isn’t a release for the faint hearted and requires a degree of paddling ability as it can be quite challenging.
