As the sun shines down on the first session of our 2 star course the Guinea pigs – sorry pupils listen on eagerly to see what awaits them.

A big thanks the Mike for running the course, hope you all enjoyed the first session.

Pugney’s

So the first  Pugney’s session is almost here and the weather is going to be shall we say not good but hey, lets get down there and get some paddling in.

Just a few last minute reminders of some old and new procedures, rules and regulations:

  1. Buy parking ticket from machine and display in car – parking is not under our control.
  2. Visit our green container and speak with Mark to organise your swipe card – you should have already filled in the form below, if not then you will need to complete tomorrow.
  3. If you intend to paddle you MUST get Pugney’s reception to swipe you IN – this means you will be logged on the water.
  4. Back to the container and sign in, pay and leave emergency contact number – under 16s MUST be signed in by an adult.
  5. Get kitted up and ready to paddle – do not enter the water until authorised to do so.
  6. Have fun 🙂
  7. At the end of the session please ensure all boats are emptied and kit is returned to the correct place in the container.
  8. Before leaving please ensure you swipe out at reception.

Please note:

Anyone wishing to paddle MUST be able to confidently swim at least 50 metres and ALL under 18s MUST wear a helmet although we encourage all participants to wear helmets.

Tees Barrage Sunday 17th April

Emma is planning a Sunday paddle session at the Tees Barrage on 17/04/16 Arriving at the Tee’s Barrage White Water course at 12pm

http://www.tbiwwc.com/course-timetable.html

Teesside-slalom_action2

The postcode is – TS18 2QW

If you haven’t been before you will need to fill in some forms at the office and if you are under 18 you will need a parent or guardian to sign you in.

It’s a great venue for anybody who is paddling grade 3 White Water and you are welcome to come along if at this standard.

The course is not for the faint hearted or inexperienced paddlers but even if not paddling it is worth going up to watch and learn.

Fetch some pennies, its £8 for the day and there is a café to get some grub when we have finished 😉

If you can let Emma know if you intend to come along by email Here  then we can keep an eye out for you.

Please note you  MUST contact Emma if you wish to participate – Emma will have the final say regarding your ability to paddle.

Club clothing

We are looking at resurrecting the club clothing order this season, I have a few requested items from people from last year but we really need a few more orders to make it feasible.

PUGNEYS 2016

pugneys

After a few technical hitches the website is back in action so we will start posting updates again.

First on the agenda is Pugneys sessions – the season begins on Saturday 16th April, get your gear dusted down and head to the lake.

There are some changes this year that have been put in place by Pugneys, you should have all received an email informing you about this but if not continue reading:

Unfortunately the fee charged by Pugneys to the club has increased this year, so in line with this increase the fees to paddle are as follows.

Members not using club equipment £4.50

Members using club equipment £5.50

Non Members £7.00

All fees to be paid to the club member running the session on the day not directly to Pugneys.

A new system has been introduced by Pugneys management to enable them to know who is on the lake.

Everyone should have received a form but if not it is below:

Private Launch Application

ALL members are required to complete & return to either a club pool session or by email to wyccclub.secretary@googlemail.com

Please return your completed form asap but do NOT return the form  to Pugneys. This will register you on their system & you will be issued with a swipe card. On arrival at Pugneys you will need to go to Pugneys reception to have your card swiped, this will register you as paddling that day & you will be given a band to wear whilst on the water. Once you have registered at reception come to the lock up & pay your fees to the club member collecting that day & get ready to have some paddling fun.

Please note it is one form per person not per family, if Pugneys do not have a completed form they will not allow you on the water.

Please note: NO CARD = NO BAND = NO PADDLING!

Happy Paddling

Saturday 21st November

Looking at running a session for a couple of hours on the Calder, probably from Healey down to Bingley arms river level and safety cover depending.

Anyone interested please contact me HERE or message me on Facebook and let me know you are interested before Friday. Plan would be to meet at Healey around 11.30am

Pugneys

Well girls and boys it’s that time again, the last session at Pugney’s is here today.

It looks like it could be a river day today as there is a little bit of water in the Calder – oh and the suns going to shine all afternoon.

What are we all going to do over the coming Saturday’s until next year I hear you all shout? How about some river practice on the local rivers? We have the Calder around Wakefield and Horbury, the Holme at Holmfirth makes for an interesting afternoon paddle and of course we have Sowerby Bridge for practising  whitewater and slalom skills.

We will try to organise river sessions most Saturday’s but of course this depends upon the weather and what safety cover we can put in place so  please keep an eye on the website and social media channels for details.
