Pugneys 5th September

Good morning to you all, very short notice but we will start our Paddlesport sessions today at Pugneys however if you can’t make today don’t worry as we can run in staggered sessions over several weeks.

We will also look to  put out some slalom gates and have a bit of an introduction into slalom – we will even drag out some of the slalom boats we have in the container for anyone to try out.

Suns out at the moment and a fine day forecast so hope to see you all later.

WYCC SLENNINGFORD SLALOM 26/27th SEPTEMBER

Our annual slalom event at Slenningford Watermill is fast approaching so we will try to provide as much information as possible about the event.

Firstly we are looking to get as many entries from club members as possible, this can include children as well as adults.

Mark  Wilbond with the help of Richard Cooke and Andy Walker are looking to run a few practice sessions over the next few weeks to brush up on skills and provide an introduction into slalom. We have all required slalom canoes that can be borrowed for the weekend.

At the event there are medals etc. to be won for various categories.

Onto more important matters now – in the past we have had club members turning up at the club campsite area from Thursday onwards to take advantage of a long weekend, unfortunately the campsite Management have now asked us to only allow camping from Friday evening onwards apart from club members who are involved in the setting up of the event. Anyone who arrives at  the club campsite area before Friday evening and has not been confirmed as part of the set-up will be turned away.

ALL INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND HERE

A final note on the event – YOUR  CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP

During the weekend we need help from club members to ensure the event runs smoothly in the following areas:

Front gate, in the control tent, starting team, on and off water rescue, judging, runners etc. anyone willing to help please let a committee member know what day/time you can help and what you can help with so we can put a schedule together.

THANKS – The Committee

Paddlepower Course

We are looking at running a Paddlepower Course over the summer for anyone under 16, the course can run during the sessions at Pugney’s over the summer.

Paddlepower is an introduction into kayaking for young people that will teach all the basic required skills step by step over several sessions.

At the end of the course all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
